Inspection Reports

I am delighted to be able to announce that the recent Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) report on Holmewood House is now available online. The report reflects the excellence that exists at all levels of school life.

Inspectors found that “The breadth and quality of pupils’ achievements are outstanding and they are well educated in line with the school’s aims.” Furthermore, the inspectors reported that “Evidence from the inspection, gained from observation of lessons, the scrutiny of the pupils’ work and discussions with them, shows that standards are excellent in relation to national expectations.”

The report goes on to refer to the “excellent education that is offered within a broad and balanced curriculum which goes way beyond the National Curriculum” and to consider that “the range of extra-curricular activities is exceptionally wide... and the personal development of the pupils is outstanding.” The inspectors witnessed “high quality teaching”, “excellent pastoral care”, “high levels of pupil self esteem and their high degree of social and moral awareness”. The inspectors went on to judge that the school’s links with parents, with whom very positive relationships are maintained, are excellent and that school leadership is strong, open and consultative, and that the quality of governance is good.

I am very proud to be the Headmaster of Holmewood House. I am determined to strive for and to achieve excellence in absolutely all areas of school life, so, far from becoming complacent, I will ensure that the next report, possibly in three years’ time, will be even more effusive. I reiterate my stated intention to make Holmewood the automatic first-choice school for all discerning parents who want the best possible prep school experience for their children.
